Professionalism
As both a proud member of the District 2 community and a storymaker, I have found that our shared values include fostering community and creating channels for clear communication with families and caretakers. Below, you'll find several pieces of evidence demonstrating these shared values over my time in the center. Enjoy!

When the pandemic shuttered our schools in March 2020, it was of the upmost importance to keep our families feeling engaged and safe through enriching online learning opportunities. In addition to my regular classes, I sent a weekly "Theater Grab Bag" in the form of a newsletter. Each week, families would receive new opportunities to engage in theater activities with their children. Grab Bags included filmed theater performances to swap out for movies, supplemental questions, activities, and DIYs, among others. Students could engage in reflection with me on my Google Classroom page and check in during our Zoom classes with additional shares.
STEAM Committee
As a proud member of the STEAM committee, my work is three-fold: 1) integrate STEAM into the classrooms at our site, 2) engage in Professional Development opportunities on the topic and 3) share professional development, STEAM-focused learning with my colleagues.

Loose Parts Cart
As a passionate Loose Parts advocate, I wondered if there could be a streamlined system for collecting, sharing, and exploring loose parts throughout our school community without asking more work of other busy teachers. In the Fall of 2022, I created the Loose Parts Cart— a traveling cart filled with accessible, organized loose parts (ie corks, caps, boxes, rocks, styrofoam, etc). First, we asked families to collect loose parts with their children and donate them to the school. Next, students and I sorted through the loose parts, organizing them by type and color. Lastly, I loaded the cart up with supplies and placed it in an accessible corner of our hallway, where teachers are free to take and leave what they'd like!
