Movie Making
When COVID made it difficult to create live theatrical pieces, I turned to movie making as an accessible way to allow everyone to take part in the process of putting together a theatrical piece. Students create every piece of the movie from story, to audio, to the materials used. Scroll below to check out some of our work over the years! Please make sure to turn on your sound to fully experience each video! Press the music note button on the bottom right corner of each movie to turn on the audio!

Hello, Dude!
Ms. Katie and Samantha's class loved the buildings unit. So much so that, after reviewing the data before our final TSG checkpoint, we decided to make it a focal point for a long term project in theater.
After we studied shadow puppets, we created Hello, Dude! Students designed each of the shadow puppets, wrote the script and recorded the voice overs.
Creating this movie allowed me an opportunity to focus on students' social-emotional and cognitive checkpoints, among others. As the class worked as a team to make this movie a reality, students were challenged to show flexibility and inventiveness in thinking and participate cooperatively and constructively in group situations.
02 The Caterpillar Who Went To Kindergarten
Created entirely virtually during the 2020-2021 school year, I worked with students and parents to create this end of the year movie about moving up! Students worked together to write the script, then filmed their respective parts at home. The final product is something special!

Over in [the Meadow]
During the 2021-2022 school year, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Ms. Michelle, our music teacher. We created three original music videos with three different classes based on the folk song "Over in the Meadow." Scroll below to watch them, and click on the page Over In The Meadow under the Student Learning tab to learn more about our processes in detail!
